NFPA 70E: Do you have an Electrical Safe Work Practices Program? - Madison

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Categorized under Construction & Real Estate, Manufacturing & Distribution, Schools & Public Entities, Senior Living & Social Services, Transportation, Business Insurance, Employee Benefits, Risk Management, Seminar.

This event is by invitation only and requires registration. There is no charge for this event.

One of the most serious yet misunderstood topics in OSHA’s focus, NFPA 70E - Electrical Safe Work Practices, can mean the difference between safely working on electrical systems or suffering debilitating injuries or worse. If working on completely de-energized switchgear and equipment is not always possible for your company, this seminar will provide information to help sort out the best practices for doing so safely, and outline the requirements for attaining OSHA compliance in this area.

This seminar will include:

  • A description of arc flash hazards
  • An overview of OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices
  • Arc flash case histories
  • Personal protective clothing requirements
  • Appropriate tools
  • When a procedure for working on energized equipment is required
  • What is a continuous industrial process?

Presenter: Patrick Ostrenga, OSHA
Patrick Ostrenga is currently the Compliance Assistance Specialist for the Milwaukee OSHA office. Previously he was the Assistant Area Director / Safety Supervisor for the Milwaukee OSHA office, and the construction coordinator for the Wisconsin OSHA Offices. He served as a safety compliance officer with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration prior to becoming the Assistant Area Director.

Mr. Ostrenga has conducted training on Electrical Safe Work Practices / NFPA 70E for numerous electrical unions, associations, educational institutions, and OSHA compliance personnel.
