About the Webinar Series - These are webinar presentations about OSHA's new local emphasis program (LEP) on grain-handling facilities. WASA, OSHA and M3 Insurance are teaming up to help the industry understand OSHA, with specific emphasis on inspection procedures, employer and employee rights during and after inspections and the hazards that OSHA compliance staff look for when they inspect grain handling facilities. All of the presenters are from OSHA. Company names of webinar participants are confidential and WILL NOT be released or shared with OSHA.
The LEP is an enforcement program that is taking place throughout Wisconsin. Inspections are focusing on six major hazards: Engulfment, falls, auger entanglement, struck by, combustible dust explosions and electrocution.
LEP inspections can be expanded if other serious hazards are observed. The webinars are designed to last an hour with time for participants to ask questions of the presenters.
Sweep Auger Entanglement and Lockout/Tagout
OSHA requirements for machine guarding and lockout/tagout programs will be explained. The focus will be on sweep augers and other equipment commonly found at grain handling facilities.
