47 of 50: Salvation Army Dane County
It’s probably safe to say that most people don’t realize the astounding reach of the Salvation Army. Providing disaster relief, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, fighting human trafficking, offering music and arts programs, serving veterans and the elderly—the list of what this amazing organization does goes on and on.
The Salvation Army provides services in 130 countries. Every year here in the U.S., the organization assists around 25 million people. It does this through a carefully implemented community-based approach that assesses a given community’s needs, establishes both short-term and long-term strategies to help remedy problems, and then delivers support through local programs that are continually optimized to be effective.
The Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Kettle Program
During the holiday season, you can find bell ringers around our communities standing alongside those iconic Salvation Army red kettles. The scene symbolizes hope at the time of year when many could benefit from a helping hand. Every year, the Salvation Army makes it possible for millions of people to enjoy a delicious warm meal on Christmas day—and for children to experience the simple pleasure found in receiving a new toy.
Just too important to not be involved
For years, M3 employees in the Madison office have volunteered their time individually or as a group to take two-hour shifts to ring bells in our community. According to the Salvation Army, “When you volunteer to stand at our kettles, you’re not just ringing a bell . . . you’re changing lives and strengthening our community.”
That idea embodies why giving back to our communities is such an integral part of who we are at M3. By participating in the Adopt-a-Kettle program, M3 is part of something bigger. Playing a part in the Salvation Army’s fundraising season helps this important organization continue its critical work in our community.
Participating in the Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Kettle Program has been a tradition for both our Client Service Leadership and our Employee Benefits Client Service teams. For the past three years, we have put multiple groups together to help support the Salvation Army. Bell ringing to us means bringing the holiday spirit to others while supporting a great cause. It’s both fun and impactful.— Brianne Gauder
