COVID-19, Healthcare

“Like a hurricane, COVID-19 has disrupted everything in its path – the way businesses function, the way people interact, and the way people think about their lives and work. It has also had a profound impact on people’s health and the way health care is delivered.”

The Milwaukee Business Journal recently sat down with a panel of experts to discuss lessons learned from COVID-19 and how health care delivery may adapt going forward.

The panel was composed of:

  • Cindy Van Asten – Senior Account Executive, Director of Healthcare, Director of Employee Benefits – Northeast WI, and Partner at M3 Insurance
  • Richelle Webb Dixon – Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Froedtert Hospital
  • Dr. Leonard Egede – Chief of the division of General Internal Medicine and Director for the Center for Advancing Population Science at the Medical College of Wisconsin
  • Jerry Halverson, MD, FACPsych, DFAPA, – Chief Medical Officer at Rogers Behavioral Health

The discussion was moderated by John R. Raymond, Sr., MD, President and CEO of the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The pandemic very much disrupted business continuity and exposed how little support there was for mental health. I think employers need to start looking at employees as people first and employees second. They need to help them with their financial, physical and emotional well-being.
