Exploratory format
Throughout the program, you’ll experience the many different sides of M3, working with sales leaders, risk managers, and service experts to dig into the details of the insurance industry. This is not an internship that puts you in a box. Use your summer as a tool to discover your strengths and carve out a path for your future. The feedback M3 interns consistently share with us is that they had previously heard great things about the insurance industry, but they still didn’t know much about it; and our program gave them a chance to explore the industry to find their career fit.
Real projects, real impacts
Many agencies give interns simulated projects to work on throughout their program. At M3, you’ll get tangible experience working with our leadership team to solve real world challenges and offer impactful solutions.
Client visits and ride-a-longs
Don’t expect to be stuck in the office all summer. In-person connection is one of the most valuable aspects of the insurance industry, so you’ll have the chance to join account executives in the field as they present to prospects and service existing clients.
Professional development
Who you know is just as important as what you know. As you gain knowledge about the industry, you’ll also be building your network in the business and developing key relationships with other insurance professionals, carriers, and clients. M3’s internship program also focuses on your professional development outside of day-to-day tasks and projects. Our Gavel Club is designed to push you out of your comfort zone to create a pitch and practice interacting with prospects and current clients. You’ll receive feedback from sales and service leadership in real-time and work to adjust your approach throughout the summer.
Scholarship opportunities
Interns in the M3 program have the potential to win sought-after scholarships in the insurance industry, including one from The Council Foundation. 12 M3 interns over the past 3 years have won scholarships from The Council Foundation totaling $60,000 – and we’re proud of that record of excellence.

Our interns don’t need to have specific majors, or any distinct insurance experience in order to be successful here. We’re focused on helping those with a passion for this industry pursue their career aspirations.
There are a couple of non-negotiables: you must have a self-motivated but team-oriented personality, and a determination to own your adventure here at M3.

How M3’s Business Insurance Internship Program works
September was an extremely busy month for us, as we partnered with over 20 different campuses to get the word out about the M3 Business Insurance Internship Program.
In October, we’ll be reviewing applications (you can still apply here) and scheduling next steps with finalists.
By the end of December, offers will be sent out to 8-10 candidates to join the M3 Business Insurance Intern Program. These interns will be located in our Madison, Milwaukee, and Wausau.
Just as it is a competitive process to join our internship program, it is a competitive process to receive a job offer upon its completion. Our goal is to hire 50% of our interns after they have graduated from their 4- or 2-year college or university.
Interns are evaluated throughout the summer. Those who are most successful, and who showcase the largest potential for a role within M3, are given offers in September or early October following their internship.
