Dan Boerboom
Dan Boerboom is a client executive at M3 Insurance, specializing in property and casualty insurance with a focus on the transportation industry. He works closely with transportation and logistics leaders to align risk strategy with business objectives, helping them navigate complex insurance markets and make confident, data-driven decisions around risk, cost, and long-term stability.
With more than three decades of experience across the insurance lifecycle, Dan brings a rare blend of actuarial insight, carrier leadership, and brokerage advisory expertise. He began his career as an actuary, drawn to understanding how risk behaves, how uncertainty is measured and priced, and how insurance programs directly influence an organization’s financial performance. Over time, his career expanded into senior leadership roles within large carrier environments, where he supported complex accounts and helped guide strategic growth initiatives. These experiences shaped Dan’s core belief that effective risk management is not about simply buying insurance, but about intentionally aligning risk strategy with broader business goals.
Today, Dan is most energized by helping clients and internal teams navigate complex and challenging risk environments through education, strategic thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. He believes the most effective risk decisions begin with understanding, so he spends time helping clients clearly understand their exposures, the dynamics of the insurance market, and how carriers evaluate risk. By demystifying the process, clients are better equipped to make informed, confident decisions.
Dan’s specialty lies in working with complex, growth-oriented transportation and logistics organizations that have outgrown standard insurance solutions and require a more strategic approach. He thrives in multifaceted environments where challenges include balancing risk retention versus transfer, structuring captive or alternative risk programs, navigating difficult markets, and aligning coverage design with long-term financial and operational objectives.
Collaboration is central to Dan’s approach. He brings together producers, service teams, carriers, and client leadership to design cohesive programs that balance risk prevention, transfer, and retention. Ultimately, Dan helps clients move from reactive insurance buying to proactive risk management; supporting sustainable growth, reduced volatility, and long-term performance.
