Wisconsin Limits Public Gatherings

Compliance, COVID-19

On Tuesday, October 5th, the governor of the state of Wisconsin directed the secretary-designee of the Department of Health Services (DHS) to issue Emergency Order #3, which limits public gatherings to no more than 25 percent of a room or building’s total occupancy.

The order from DHS includes definitions for public gatherings and a list of exemptions from the order. Local governments have the ability to enact orders which are the same or more restrictive than this order. The order goes into effect on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 8am.

The State has provided an FAQ document to help explain the order.

This order will remain in place until November 6, 2020 or by a subsequent superseding order.

This emergency order limiting occupancy in public gathering spaces is effective from Thursday, October 8 to November 6, 2020. Decision makers in your organization would be well served to thoroughly review the latest emergency order to understand how this may affect your operations.
